Hi Dawn - ChrisMike and I will be restarting the UX design meetups in January. We would be happy to grab lunch with you this month.

Hi!

My name is Dawn and I am currently working as a research consultant for a user centered design consultant agency in Olympia, Wa. I was born and raised in Honolulu and will be visiting at the end of December. I would love to meet people interested in UX and learn how it is being implemented in Hawaii. Are there any meet ups or UX events planned?

Hey UX peeps! I know you all are probably happily employed doing exactly what you love to do, but in case you know anyone looking for a full-time job as a UX Designer, Anthology Marketing Group is hiring. Take a look at the Forum for the details (http://www.techhui.com/forum/topics/hiring-user-experience-designer).

Anyone using Axure (www.axure.com) for rapid prototyping and testing? I'm test driving the trial and so far it has the "feel" of Visio at it's leanest but also has some tools to created click throughs and even some conditional Ix with some of their widgets.

For those of you who use Ominigraffle to create wireframes, check out this site

Their Iphone UI templates are pretty awesome

I did see the Jib Jab Elf Yourself...a friend had it emailed to her. Very cute and creative.
Imagine a Hawaii version with a client tie in-- Sheraton or Starwood or whatever as an internet viral advertising vehicle.
Scene opens:
Santa got sick of living on the north pole and relocated to Hawaii--staying at client property. Instead of snowball fights, build sand castles and surf and welcome everyone to join him on the beach-- boycot a cold Christmas. Same backend function of Flash Video, After Effects, etc.,with customization--photos or audio to personalize the clip...and package it up so it can be emailed. Voila...
If i see this idea, I'm going to ask for a royalty.
LOL

Hey Kevin - if you haven't seen this already, here's another example that is similar to the portable north pole: http://www.elfyourself.com/. From a UX perspective, they have simplified the process from previous versions (elf yourself has been around for years), so that there are now less steps, making the process quicker and easier. -Chris

Lately, I've been looking at ways to integrate Flash, After Effects and video into a compelling and interesting UI and web design.

My girlfriend found this and it got me thinking of the possibilities for clients. Check it out... http://portablenorthpole.tv/home
