Barnes & Noble is hosting a mini makerfaire at all their stores nationwide, including those in Hawaii.
The Lahaina (Maui) store will see a number of us techies and makers friday/sat/sunday. Friday eve we are giving talks at 5 and 7pm, and afterwards will be going uphill to FuzzBox collab space for some talkstory. Come on out and meet us! Its not often we get a west maui tech event!
I created a TechHui event for this event
Aloha everyone, just wanted to put feelers out there for iOS/Android programmers. I have a project that is a 'social game for the stock market' which won the Audience Award at the Google Startup Weekend 2015 and finished in 2nd place in final voting. I was also invited as one of three startups to pitch at the MEDB Venture Capital Seminar. Both events have been insightful and validating.
However, it's been challenging trying to find a programmer to work with on island. I have the concept, design, and user interface developed. If there's anyone on Maui who is looking for a scalable/global mobile project to be involved with please let me know.
This week Thursday (6 Aug 2015) will be MauiMakers monthly open public meeting 6-9pm at the makerspace (200 Waiehu Beach Rd, Wailuku HI see map in right sidebar). We have just passed our first year as a non-profit corporation and installed several new board members and officers. We have a number of activities going on this month including:
Come on down, meet the board/officers, other members, find out how you can participate in these projects or create new ones.
Maui Makers has been selected to participate in a contest sponsored by Intel/Instructables to build an Internet of Things (IoT) project using a collection of sensors/effectors and an Edison processor. We are getting the Environmental/Agricultural pack, which is appropriate to our island.
If any Maui Techies would like to participate in the design/build, we will be talking about this at the upcoming Public Night meeting at our Makerspace (200 Waiehu Beach Rd, Wailuku, HI ) Thurs Aug 6.
Here is our blog post on the contest:
Please join SWE-HI Maui (Society of Women Engineers) and HSPE (Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers) for a Pau Hana at The Ale House in Kahului Tuesday, 8/11/2015 from 5:30 to 7:30PM
Come celebrate the end of summer vacation and have some fun with this diverse group of Maui tech-savvy folks.
Mahalo and see you soon!
