Ian et all.,
My apologies...Hawaii User Group for Salesforce moved from the last Tuesday to the 3rd Tuesday. We still meet at 7:30 Social and 8-9am for the meeting.
We moved this for a few reasons... (I had a conflict for July, and we want to accomodate those attending Dreamforce in August, and also going forward we wanted to avoid conflicting with Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Also, we have web-ex for those interested in attending from via the internet.
Tomorrow's meeting we will be focused on dashboards, adoption ideas, and user Q & A. In August we have confirmed a guest presenter from Round Corner which should be very interesting. We have about 45 folks involved so far. 3 are from Maui and the rest are Oahu. HUGS (Hawaii User Group for Salesforce) is coming along. Junes meeting we had 15 attend in person and 3 online. We are pleased with the turn out and involvement.
One hands on project our members asked for is to "learn by doing" so Roz who is a volunteer with us helped to set up "Chatter" so folks can experience this as a possible tool for their organization/company.
Lastly, for those who attend, if they do not have a "salesforce for dummies" book, Salesforce left us a few and we are offering these while they last. If I can help please let us know about the workshops in February. Also TOM Addis VP from Salesforce can probably tell you if/when they are planning to come back to Oahu.
If you are a user of Salesforce.com or Force.Com, or you would like learn more and meet the users please see the event tomorrow morning (Please rsvp).
Hi Bonnie - appreciate the update. Great detail... unfortunately I won't be at the May 24th event... I'm trying to get a better handle on the local Salesforce community as we are planning a series of meetings and workshops in February next year. I know it's a ways off, but we want to be sure and do it right. Our focus is on increasing customer value through design and adoption of automated marketing processes and messaging oriented architectures. As a result CRM systems like Salesforce are squarely in the middle of what we do. Knowing that user group meetings are the last Tuesday of each month will be helpful in our planning.
Mahalo Ian
Aloha Ian,
We have held two user group meetings (March and April). We have two more coming up, the last Tuesday of the month...plus we have a networking event on May 24th prior to the Cloudforce event on May 24th at Aston Waikiki.

You are welcome to sign up for May. Salesforce is providing a rep on May 31st. I can ask about integration of other cloud services. The March groups were mostly folks from HPU who help us launch and one gentleman who brought great questions. He was in need of coaching on how to get large data to import files to work well. Rob Lamb from SF foundation was our presenter at the last two meetings and has done a great job. The April meeting was one prof from HPU and 4 small business and corporate users. They had some similar frustrations with adoption/usage with their staff and or how to develop a plan and really get started. I shared our PPT we developed for our users, which two folks have thanked us for...One user was not using the CRM but rather a app developer for Salesforce and in a different league. However Rob did a great job answering questions, showing people resources within Salesforce. We had a great chatter clinic and helpful discussion around implementing policy regarding chatter internally. One of our account reps had sent me a few books so we used a couple and gave away a couple of door prizes.
Cara a VP from Aston volunteered to host our next networking event which will be held right before Cloudforce. Users in Hawaii haven't met each other and so connecting with each other is a new concept. We are hoping to have Hawaiian Air, Expedia, and Aston as well as others at the networking event. It is free...
All are welcome. Will you be flying out?
Bonnie
