Thanks for the comment, Daniel! I don't know why, but I always find it a surprise when people remember me and things I've done. Thanks for setting this up Tech Hui - I used to have a daydream of setting up a "Programmer's Club" in Hawaii, and this is turning into an interesting online version of that concept very fast.
Hey man thanks for the comments. Glad to be a new member on the forum! Looking forward to exploring more and getting to meet some fellow geeks on the islands!
Would techhui be the appropriate site to support the development of a working consensus for business application development? For example, from the MS side, businesses would use Office (XML), SharePoint, SQL, AJAX, WPF, IIS, WF, etc. The generic component list would be web portal, programming language, database, electronic forms, workflow, etc.
It would be great to have a side by side and interchangable list of both Java and Microsoft component solutions.
The goal is to promote the local programming industry in Hawaii including the development and resale of products/services outside of Hawaii.
Over the last 6 years there has been significant improvement in technology to support small (under 500 employees) and medium (500 to 5000 employees) business needs. It would be to everyone's interest to have a hui of local programmers that shared technology standards to help local businesses.
Thanks for looking at my posting on Social Networks for Software Engineers. I've also provided a description of this as a Research and Development project for Hackystat at
Hey. If this is a network for ''those interested in technology ventures in the islands'' how come there are no business related forums? Venture money, rules®ulations re. starting a company, incubator info, etc. etc.
Btw. did you read about that guy who started a website for reviewing VCs? that sounds interesting! ;-)

Its a Facebook/MySpace type of model for communication. Are you saying you prefer regular email lists? If the notifications are an issue you can turn them off. You have full control over what notifications you receive.

If someone wants to take it on, that would be very cool.
