Sid Savara and I have been talking about planning a startup weekend -- you and your geekiest friends, making something for the internet in a weekend. You can read more about the sort of event we're thinking of here.

If you'd be interested, post here, and if you know someone else that might be, forward this to them. If we get enough "heck yeah"s we'll put together a date (possibly early sept) and venue. (Also, let us know if you have any ideas for a venue.)

I guess 12 would be awkward and encourage friendship, 16+ people might be less understanding ;) Although at past 8ish people we'd probably want to break people into different rooms anyway on separate startups or something.

Heh. Something about a room that can "uncomfortably" hold 15-20 people is intriguing to me. Just how roomy are "startup weekends" supposed to be? Wouldn't cramped, awkward quarters encourage creative thinking, like the bootstrap startups of yore? Or just make everyone cranky?

Hey Shawn, like we just discussed, Mike (my roommate) and I could host it at our place. Our living room + kitchen comfortably holds 8-10 (assuming you want a little workspace + laptop).

Uncomfortably holds 15-20....

Considering how exciting the local tech scene has gotten lately, I think the time is ripe for something like this. Imua!
