I am on the board of a (west side) non-profit that is involved in native plant restoration and that wants an interactive site involving a blog, a database for users to enter and browse data (am planning on Rails framework) and images, wiki pages, and a forum. Will need to link up to maps/gps positioning. I am researching/evaluating hosts to start. We need a host that does not require much technical experience from their end (and of course as little money as possible). Just curious if anyone has any suggestions as to which host to hook up with.

Also, this might be a common project if you are interested in getting involved. I will be at the Big Island Techies pau hana on Oct 24 if you want to learn more.

Hi Gena,

I'd love to chat with you about the position. I'm in Hilo.

Where can I send my resume?

Hello Everyone - I am currently recruiting for a Project Coordinator in Hilo for a 3 year contract. It is for a laptop roll out, and the tops skills are project coordination, documentation and great organizational skills.  Since I am new to the Big Island do you know anyone in Hilo who may be interested? Thank you!

Next Tech Monday Oct. 24, we will discuss Design Thinking.  In Waikoloa this time, see event calendar.

@Rod: For $4000/month, it can be converted to such a co-working space.   The original concept we had for it was the "Kona Innovation Center."  Other ideas were the "Innovator's Greenhouse."  Anyway, you are on the same wavelength.  I'd very much love to be a part of such a project and get it started.

In conjunction with my post from a few days ago, I put a bug in the ear of NELHA staff about the idea of co-working space and how it might fit in with their new vision of being an incubator.  Seems to me that their third Gateway building (the "lab") is a wasted resource...

Aloha Big Island Techies,

I would be more than happy to hold a meeting location (Pau Hana) here at my restaurant Banjy's Paradise Bar & Grill, 68-1792 Melia Street Waikoloa Village, 96738, 808 883 3853. I could supply the "Pupus" and possibly some libations. We have two banquet rooms capacity 40 & 80, both have 55 inch screens to push any power points and free WIFI. Please let me know? Thanks, Jim

All, I do have some County funding for a project called "Commercialization of high tech".  Originally, the purpose was to do a PitchFest for high tech entrepreneurs but maybe the start of a co-work space to help start ups might fit the bill.  We could use the funds to at least do a trial or feasibility study.

@Jon et al. The NELHA Research Campus (2nd floor of the NELHA Admin building) would like to focus on ocean science and technology, however, they will entertain any other idea and as long as the rent will be paid, I'm sure they will be happy.  For West Hawaii, perhaps this is something that we can do coupled with STEM education with the local students here at the Gateway Center?
