Have you ever dreamed of making it big in Apple's App Store? This workshop provides the foundations, knowledge, and experience required to create one's very own apps! Using a real-life app (created by the instructor and available in the App Store), this workshop 'walks thru' many aspects of this app's creation, starting from the design of its icon, to the programming behind its UI views, to its publication in the App Store.
By using a published app, students learn in a hands-on manner and experiment with topics such as: ▫ icon/splash screen design and best practices. ▫ designing UI Views such as; alerts/action panes, interactive navigation-based tables, interactive maps, and web views. ▫ programming a large range of actions such as to making buttons clickable, images zoomable, views swipeable, and other (external) apps invokable. ▫ testing to detect (and fix!) memory leaks and other bugs that may crash an app. ▫ prepping and publishing the app to the App Store.
This workshop involves many intimate details of app development; experience with Apple's programming language, Objective-C is highly suggested.
After graduating from UHM in Computer Science, Patrick Wardle went on to receive two Master's degrees from the Johns Hopkins University in the areas of Computer Science and Security Informatics. He initially worked for the US government in the field of computer security before helping start a computer security company and moving to Maui. While he spends his days working as a researcher for his company, his free time is consumed by everything Apple: his true passion. As a published iOS developer, he deeply understands Apple's native programming language (Objective-C), and what it takes to truly succeed in the Apple universe.
