Anyone? (My apologies for the cross post, but I'm not caffeinated enough to hit both entities at once.)

We are happy to host the meeting and I know Dan would be interested.
If someone organizes a Ruby group, I'm sure many will come out.

I certainly will make an effort to attend these regularly, as I'm always on the prowl for local Ruby/Rails talent. :-)

If the scheduling works out right, I may be able to squeeze in some time to give a presentation on a JRuby/GlassFish stack on Fedora Linux sometime -- maybe April/May timeframe. That would be a way to cross-pollenate interest from the Eclipse/Java group and the Linux group.
I'd definitely be interested in hearing this talk.

Sam & I were talking about lunch-time instead of evening since we both have young families to attend to after work. The down-side is that you pretty much need to take a long lunch (maybe not so bad) but it can't be 3 hours, either.

Right now its just an online group, but Ken is proposing it also be a user group with meetings. We definitely support this idea.

John Wang: Is this a user group?
It's a 'convention' I've seen around: #{city_name}.rb acting as the name of a local user group (also makes a great twitter hash). Sam has been task-loaded with twins, so Honolulu Coders has been dormant. I would like to see more face to face community interaction and there seems to be enough rubyists / ruby on rails / ruby cocoa interest out there.

Seth Ladd is working on an Aloha on Rails conference for Fall 2009; that should be very exciting.

I've got a few topics (at least to fill a few sessions worth)

  • Stupid Capistrano tricks.
  • RadiantCMS
  • Rails 2.3
  • Merb Heart Rails
  • CruiseControl.rb
  • ...

Or HonoluluCoders['ruby'] :-)
I would be very interested in participating in a Ruby / Rails users group :)

Am interested in meeting up other ROR programmers. Just started playing with ruby recently.
This thread seems to have died out in March. Did anything get set up for this meeting?
After the very successful Aloha On Rails conference, there's renewed interest in a weekly gathering. Check out http://groups.google.com/group/aloharb
