1. Where is the job located?
2. What type of work does it involve?
3. What is the range of pay? (obviously it depends on experience, etc, that's why I'm asking for a _range_)

Thanks,
Nate
Hi Brian,
The deadlines are not unrealistic. I don't want lazy ass programmers. I met a lot of them in the past and I don't want to deal with this issue again.
Hi nate,
the work location is in kaimuki, but if it is a contract work then they may work from home and meet 2 to 3 times a week.
the work is creating 3 applications that will communicate with a via the internet data base.
pay hum... that is a good question. the range is from $1,500 - $4,000 per month. There is a exam that the programmer needs to take to determine their skill level.

Is that $4K/month 1099?

yes
Wow. Well, I think you have to take a second and ask yourself very seriously if you want somebody who's going to take you up on a $25/hr 1099 contract writing C++ code for you under pressure with strict deadlines. It seems to me like the union of the set of people who'd accept this job and the set of people actually qualified for it has cardinality near zero.

My estimation at this point is that you're not getting quality programmers because you're not paying enough for them. The kind of people you get at $25/hour don't scale. You'd be better off, in most cases, getting one $75/hour programmer than 3 $25/hour programmers.

I don't think I'm alone in my assessment of this situation.

Hi Nate,
we were paying about $75 - 85 per hour. but they were just lazy asses. So now we are getting good programmers on a part time bases @ $4,000.00 per month They are working out fine. we are just looking for 1 more programmer. keep in mind that 4000 per month could be for a part timer or per job project
Hi Brian, we found a good c++ programmer... I guess we were lucky.

aloha
