Hey, I just noticed that for forums and groups, while in most cases when you start a thread, the editor will allow for rich text (kind of like tinymce, there will be button panel with buttons for bold, italic, underlined, strike-through, links and images).

But for comments, some will allow for rich text, while others don't.

Just curious, but why?

The Ning platform we use seems to decide arbitrarily which text boxes will have formatting bars and which won't. Its an inconsistency I don't like, and if Ning doesn't fix it with a future release, we probably will.

Note that all text boxes actually allow you to use formatting tags, even the ones without formatting bars. For example, you can use formatting, add images, etc. to your profile in the "About Me" field, even though it doesn't include a formatting bar.
