Hawaiʻi's Technology Community

We're starting an online local word of mouth forum called WOMF. Come check it out and tell me what you think. http://hawaii.womf.com.

Now, I'm not even going to say it's perfect... 'cause it isn't. But in our constant quest to develop ideas and concepts, we decided to move forward with this product as the test for a nationwide launch.

Please play with it and rip it apart, then send me comments on what you think would make it better as a community builder with a business focus (not unlike yelp.com for those that use it). We tried to err on the side of simplicity (twitter).

And as always, you can comment on KGMB9.com as we've built it with constant evolution at it's core.

So what do you think? And thanks in advance.

I think this will be very useful and the site looks great! Did you and KND build it from scratch or use one of the PHP frameworks?
This one is (I believe) from scratch by KND and they threw a lot of AJAX. It is slick and clean.

The question we really have is can it reach critical mass as a hyperlocal product?

We're both very motivated in the project as they need a foothold in the US and we need to branch out into more online initiatives.

It's pretty funny that their initial test was in Bloemfontein, South Africa. So Hawaii is much larger!

I think you have a very good chance. You are in a good position to promote it! :-)

That makes sense. They sound like a great company. We are working on several web social networking projects locally and in Japan. If there is anything we can do to help, let us know.

Funny - We were recently just across the Mozambique Channel in Madagascar. We were planning on visiting but a minor medical issue forced us to change plans.
