The numbers are pretty amazing.. To summarize, vertical farming could help in a number of ways, namely:
- significantly increase food productivity achieved from stacking effect
- increase food quality given closed and controlled environment
- virtually eliminate food transportation costs by having local farming buildings
- revive forests and wildlife currently taken by 'old school' flat farming technique
- recycle farming bi-products into energy

For the Islands, this could mean better and cheaper food, more variety, and more available land to revitalize indigenous plants and wildlife..
