''Beaming Concentrated Solar Power From Space to Earth''

What a neat idea!! The energy conversion efficiency rate (from Photons to Electrons) skyrockets since the Suns Rays are depleted much less when transmitted in concentrated from, (from a Solar Concentrator Satellite in a Geosynchronous Orbit around the Earth), directly onto a collection dish at the Earths surface. With a much higher Energy Conversion efficiency, the cost per kW-Hr of electricity drops significantly.

Itʻs a fun concept that a few power utilities like PG&E are re-examining.. Power beaming via microwaves was demonstrated in the late 60s. Itʻs just a really big engineering project that will take a lot of infrastructure and money. Weʻre almost there with the technology.

And then thereʻs that orbital platform with a XX GWatt microwave beam issue.

There are a lot of things that we can do on the ground now to help with our renewable energy goals too..

Looks pretty cool, but sounds a bit pricey and overly complicated (at least for now :) Are there possibilities for simpler ways of achieving renewable energy goals that are cheaper/more realistic?

Another thought is that solar rays also contain 'other' particles, that could be potentially harmful if used in this 'concentrated' way. Any thoughts in this regard?
