Testimony Needed in Support of Bill to fund Kakaʻako Innovation Hub

Posted on behalf of HTDC:

HTDC is again looking for your immediate SUPPORT

Testimony Filing Deadline: Monday, March 17 @ 9:00 A.M.

The State Budget Bill which was passed through the House Committee on Finance last week is now with the Committee on Ways and Means. A hearing for this bill (HB1700 HD1) was just scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th @ 9am. All testimony needs to be submitted 24 hours in advance.

The testimonies that the House received from all of our wonderful supporters truly helped to pave the way to get the CIP request passed last week. Chair Luke was very impressed that as a community we had such overwhelming support (48 testimonies!). We now need you help again! Your testimonies make a difference!

Why is this important?

This bill HB1700 HD1 contains the $23 million CIP request that will allow us (HTDC) to develop a new innovation hub equipped with collaborative space and competitive connectivity speeds – amid office space for startups. The current land lease at the Manoa Innovation Center (MIC) will expire in April 2015, this CIP request will allow HTDC to continue its efforts to help our technology and innovation community.

HTDC's position is that we are in STRONG SUPPORT of the $23 million CIP request.

We encourage all clients, partners, friends and general supporters of HTDC to submit testimony stating your position in SUPPORT for this request to ensure that the program has a future beyond 2015 for our community!
