Pushing up the bandwidth from 10g to 40g and 100g!

Sorry Hawaii is not in the bandwidth game.   But I would suggest that our State legislatures should start that initiatives to push this issue to the top!    All new development should also be considering the usage of Fiber Optics in all aspects of building, such as FTTP or FTTH.

Today’s cable companies uses EPON (ethernet PON) as part of the DOCSIS provisioning specifications. DSL has its similar specification and bandwidth limitations.

However with optical networks  we will be leap-froging that EPON to GPONs(G.984) – gigabit passive optic networks are the best access points to consider when developing each break points.  There are amazing highly flexible glass and plastic fiber optics that is way lower cost than pulling copper wires.    And full fiber optics to ethernet technology has already exceeded(10GPON, G.987) 10g, 40g, 100gig interfaces and available now.

Ciena Insights:  Enabling the transport of high-speed Ethernet over optical networks is now a reality—thanks to Ciena. Ciena’s WaveLogic family of coherent optical processors vastly expands capacity without disrupting existing networks, providing simple and cost-effective upgrades from 10G to 40G or 100G. That’s game-changing.

I'd be happy with just a little piece of that bandwidth, say 0.05G, at a rate that's competative with Japan.

Oh man... what I would do for a 100G pipe... :)

Yeah!  Now if they can just build a connection like this to my HOUSE!  Will you be my ISP, Sydney?? =)
