Guy Toyama, a true entrepreneurial gem on the Big Island, has passed away. Guy's welcoming smile and words of encouragement will be missed. Prayers to his family and friends during this very difficult time.

Shocking and sad news! He was indeed a bright light. I spent two days last August with him at TechConKona which he initiated and help organize: a truly innovative event blending green tech and social networking. He encouraged me in my work developing a local/community exchange and had me speak about this at the conference. When he arrived he gave me a wonderful tour of the NELHA park which is truly impressive. I was very much inspired by Guy and will miss him.
For all on Hawaii Island or for those who might be here at the end of the month, a memorial service followed by a celebration of Guy's life, will be held:
Friday, November 30, 3 p.m., at Kona Hongwangji Mission
81-6630 Mamalohoa Highway
Kealakekua, HI 96750
Guy was involved in so many aspects of life here in Hawaii nei, from sustainability to community action to mentoring leaders. His absence will leave a huge hole in the community. The world will be a little less energetic, green, and amusing without him.
We are very sorry to hear this. He made great contributions to sustainability and renewable energy in Hawaii.
