TechHui

Hawaiʻi's Technology Community

With the addition of TechHuian Stephen McMahon, we have passed the 300 member mark. TechHui has become a reflection of Hawaii's vibrant and substantial technology community. Working with other TechHuians to build this online community has been, and continues to be, a fantastic adventure. We've discovered people all over the state working on fascinating technology projects. As I stated in response to an excellent post by Brooke Fujita, I have faith that great things are in store for our community. Technology companies like Sprout, Blue Lava, Oceanit, Digital Mediums, and Ikayzo are hiring. We are starting to draw technology experts from the mainland and abroad. Its an exciting time!

Earlier this month I received a note from a Honolulu woman pursuing a technology degree on the mainland. She said seeing all the activity on TechHui had renewed her hope that she could return home and pursue a technology career. I had a smile on my face all day. That is exactly the sort of thing TechHui is all about.

Mahalo nui loa for all your contributions. See you in the groups and forums!

Thanks Brooke. The credit belongs equally to active participants such as yourself.

I'd love to return back to Honolulu someday, if I could figure out a way to make it snow more in Hawaii...

I hear they have some cheap real estate near the top of Mauna Kea :-)

Congrats on passing the 300 member mark, and tip of the hat to you, Dan. From my chilly vantage point in Hokkaido, I see that you've managed to create a terrific feed-back loop that is becoming a driving force for the IT community in Hawaii, while being driven by the IT community itself. And being a displaced kama'aina, it is quite nice to see that you've got a vibrant mix of local and non-local members. Just goes to show, Hawaii is indeed a special place.

I'd love to return back to Honolulu someday, if I could figure out a way to make it snow more in Hawaii...
