Indri

Indri are the largest extant species of lemur. Their name actually means "there" in Malagasy. I'll let you guess how the first French scientist to see one got confused about the name :-) The Malagasy word for indri is babakoto.

Lemurs are primates but they are not monkeys or apes. They are prosimians. You can see several lemur species at the Honolulu Zoo including Ring-Tailed Lemurs and Black Lemurs.
