Apologies to those that were attending in 2011, my Spring and Summer semesters are just too full to organize meetings.  If someone else want to carry the torch for awhile, I may be able to attend a…Continue

Text editors are really important, especially on Linux where chances are you're going to be editing text sooner than later. For a programmer, or a sysadmin, it's one of the most fundamental and…Continue

We are pushing to get onto the list of official ubuntu mirror sites, but politics are getting in the way...it's in progress though.

no problem...I'm twisting arms to see about increasing our bandwidth...right now we're on a shared gig pipe, but I'm trying to get permission to use a fiber mux (wdm two colour mux) so that the mirror site can get a dedicated gbe pipe. We're also pushing in BGP AS Numbers into the updates systems to redirect updates to our server. Mr. Fedora (Warren Togami) and many others are helping me maintain the system. It's even under HP and Netgear service contracts and on a massive UPS with lots of batteries.

Awesome, Brian... thanks for the link and the hosting.  We're doing Ubuntu here at COE, but maybe we'll leave it to you now.  ;)  That's the only distro I use for them most part

Hi folks,

I'm hosting what I think is currently the world's largest Linux mirror site at http://mirror.ancl.hawaii.edu currently at 24tb of storage. We're hoping to host most of the major distros, and slowly expand to include embedded distros. Any fav's out there that you think we should also host?

I will one day visit!   But if you ask what is my flavor of LINUX installer:    pinguy.os all the way!   And I totally recommend it as a complete alternative window system.

Full screen flash ready and fully loaded office suite and network ready.

Hi Branden.  We'll meet at the UHM campus, Wist Hall room 134.  Best way to enter is from the parking lot side entrance.  If you want to check the location out earlier, it's called the the College Collaboration Center, or CCC.

Hi all, just joined the group. I'm looking forward to the July meeting, but I can't find any info about where it's supposed to be?
