Save the Date!

Save the date: Saturday, December 3, 2011 for the first CityCamp Honolulu. It will be an all day event, unconference style format with presentations about the goals of City Camp and how the C&C of Honolulu is interested in opening up its data sets for application development. City Camp encourages interested citizens, City specialists, technologists, designers, planners and entrepreneurs to join this collaborative effort to re-imagine the way the web, applications, technology and civic engagement will shape the future of Honolulu.

A great event.  Kudos out to Burt for doing a awesome job at MCing the event.  Iʻm assuming groups will be created from each topic to continue the effort and to organize the information?  Or will groups be created on CityCampHNL forum?

I just posted this idea on uservoice.

Devise a policy whereby all Honolulu websites are constructed atop a standard platform

Anyone should be able to build an app that can access any data on any Honolulu web site. The most effective and accurate way to do this is to agree on a set of standards whereby any future website must be built atop a platform whose data/api is available to all. Existing websites would be re-built on a schedule commensurate with their current importance/relevance in the community.
