For students of the Japanese language, this post is about as funny as it gets.

Excerpt:
You've eaten at a few Japanese restaurants, seen some anime, hosted an exchange student, and had a Japanese girlfriend. And now, somewhere in the back of your tiny brain, you think that Japanese would be a good language to learn. Hey, you could translate video games! Or Manga! Or even Anime! Pick up Japanese girls, impress your friends! Maybe you'll even go to Japan and become an anime artist! Yeah! Sounds like a great idea!

I've always suspected Mika and her friends actually speak Esperanto when there are no gaijin around.

My great-Uncle was telling me once about pubs in the North of Scotland where as soon as a stranger walked in the door the conversation would change from being in English to Scot's Gaelic, so this kind of thing does happen...
AHA! I knew it. Unfortunately the Scottish customer support people used by many businesses in London seem to do the same thing :-) Have you ever caught your wife speaking Esperanto? You can test her by blurting out "Kiel vi fartas?"
