Go Green and Carbon Clean -- Reducing Moloka'is Dependence on Oil - 100% CFL

Just wanted to catch everyone up on the latest distribution of CFLs to every household on Moloka'i.

We had a survey process to check existing energy usage, and ~400 surveys were returned, which gives Blue Planet Foundation (the sponsor) some good data to crunch.

Residents are asked to bring in their old, ineffecient lightbulbs and convert them to the FREE CFL's

The “Go Green and Carbon Clean” CFL Lightbulb Project is a community partnership between the Blue Planet Foundation, SustAINAble Molokai, 21st Century Community Learning Center, Molokai Private & Public Schools, and the people of Molokai.

The mission is to educate and activate our Molokai community about the negative effects of carbon emissions on our environment as well as to encourage energy efficiency among community members in order to reduce our dependence on oil for energy. Our goal is to have 100% of Molokai households use energy- and money-saving CFLs.

Starting at the end of March and through April 2010. up to 90,000 CFLs will be available for homes on Molokai. Once the CFLs arrive on Molokai, the bulbs will be distributed for FREE through several outlets. Please check the Trade-In Locations page for the latest locations.
