Getting started as a web developer in Hawaii

Hi everyone,

I would like to start a discussion about getting started as a web developer in Hawaii. I am planning to move to Hawaii in the next three months or even sooner and I'm trying to gauge what the tech community and job market out there is like for web developers.

One of my options was to try to find freelance work where I could work remotely using such services as Elance, Getafreelancer or through word of mouth from previous clients. What are your guys thoughts about this?
