For next week, we’re excited to have Daniel Leuck (a local favorite) present on WPF and Silverlight. If you haven’t dived into this cool new technology yet maybe now is the time to check it out.
Summary
In this talk we are going to look at the Microsoft Patterns & Practices Group's Prism framework for composite WPF and Silverlight applications. Prism allows you to create a single shell inside of which multiple loosely coupled modules can present views, consume and provide services and communicate via an event bus. Prism also makes heavy use of the Unity container for dependency injection. Prism is especially popular at financial institutions but it is being used in a wide variety of fields.
Bio
Dan Leuck is the CEO of Ikayzo, a Honolulu and Tokyo based interactive design and software development company that works extensively with Java, .NET, iOS, Android and Ruby on Rails. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Research and Development for Tokyo-based ValueCommerce, Asia's largest online marketing company, Global Head of Development for London-based LastMinute.com, Europe's largest B2C website, and President of the US division of DML. He has served on numerous advisory boards and panels for companies such as Macromedia and Sun Microsystems. Dan has been working on the .NET platform since it was in beta with a focus on UI technologies. He has lead UI development for numerous WPF and Silverlight apps in the financial space.
As always, we’ll have lots of free pizza and drinks as well as some pretty amazing door prizes (SWAG). For a map to PCATT, visit: www.hawaiidotnet.org
