Right, it's in OCTOBER. Yes, we wanted to promote it early so people in education & govt would start collecting their waste and initiate the process of getting it removed from their inventories administratively -- never much fun in the public sector.

This event is listed as being from August 20-25 in the event details, but it's in October, right? Is this just to promote it early?

We're doing it up by Transportation Services, about as mauka as you can get at UH-Manoa. We'll have maps up on the website in advance and signs on campus to direct people that week.

When we did this in 2006 we took out 51 containers which amounted to about 1.2 MILLION pounds of eWaste. Apple, who underwrites the direct costs for all this, wants to take out more this time!

Hey Curtis, do you know where at UH this will be?

By the Way.. just FYI everyone.
I talked to them and they said that NO triage is done on the equipment. it will NOT make it to any type of non profit for reuse. This hardware is intended for SCRAP only.

If you want to donate something for REUSE then check out this page :
http://www.hawaii.edu/ewaste/disposal.php

otherwise it all gets melted down.

Thanks !
