SharePoint Online / Office 365 Claims Authentication + Python
Couldn't find any complete references for authentication to SharePoint Online via a non-Microsoft API (surprisingly Microsoft wasn't very helpful, they assume you're using WIF).
It was pretty trivial once I found this great post explaining how SharePoint Online claims authentication works.

Of course I only found this when I had already spent a substantial amount of time learning it the hard way.. c'est la vie!

We just went through a similar exercise with Sharepoint for a finance customer. As you said, <sarcasm>its loads of fun.</sarcasm>
Thank you for sharing your SharePoint auth gist. I'm sure it will prove useful to all the devs looking to pull Sharepoint content into Python & Java portals, iOS apps, etc.
