Christmas is coming, and nobody needs to tell you that malls are about to get crazy. The last thing you want to endure is long checkout lines – especially when you have a loooong gift list to get through.

Retailers don’t want you to wait either, because they’re afraid you may want to change your mind about that merchandise in your hand. Thank goodness, then, for mobile ipad point-of-sale (POS) system.

Thanks to POS, salespeople in stores all across the U.S. can ring folks up and swipe credit cards from any place in the store – not just behind the counter. They can also use POS to look up clothing items for their availability in other colors or sizes at different store locations.

By saving time, retail clerks are making sure that customers are focusing their attention on buying stuff, rather than reconsidering whether buying this particular stuff is really worth all the aggravation. Thanks to mobile POS technology, the aggravation factor is practically eliminated.

And that reduction in aggravation adds up to bigger sales numbers. Many big-box stores have reported a sales boost of 15 percent since employees started using mobile POS.

Lest you come away from this feeling like you, the consumer, is being used and manipulated in some cynical way with the help of modern technology, consider this: You’re Christmas shopping. It’s hard enough already. Standing in line with a bunch of shopping bags from other stores is no fun. SO when that store clerk comes around with the POS device, all ready to check your item, you will be grateful. Mark those words.

And before you know it, you’ll be back in that store again. It works for you, it works for the retailer – it’s just a winning proposition all around. All hail the Point-Of-Sale!
