Hey Robert !
I'm originally from Pittsburgh. I trust that you will enjoy CMU !!! Geek Heaven ! Congrats !!!! Check out "the 'O'" there just down the street from you. Or a Local Ski resort : http://7springs.com/ complete with summer "Alpine Slide" i.e. personal roller coaster all downhill... USE the break on the 3rd corner..."or else" you get a REAL sky view of the mountain. Now you can see that there IS someplace else that actually has worse traffic that Honolulu. If you are on the other side of the squirrel hill tunnels 45 minutes before class...(3 miles from class) don't stress.... your already late. Applebee's Ribs are probably the best in town. Century III mall is the largest in the area. Monroeville Mall has the computer conventions (might be still going on monthly ) If you get lost... don't worry, we are too. Even we that lived in Tha Burgh' still get lost after 20 years. I always hear different counts (and depending on what you count and who you ask...) but Pittsburgh is the City of Bridges (most in the world). There are over 2,000 bridges in Allegheny County 944 of them in Pittsburgh. More twists and missed urns that you will be able to count. http://abcdpittsburgh.org/FAQ2.htm or http://pghbridges.com/

How was your winter ? Still thawing out ? now you can tell everyone "yes... there really are negative number on a thermometer, and they do actually get used." Don't worry.... computers work better when they are kept cold. Possibly why CMU grads are some of the best anywhere.

Give us an update of how things are going !

Welcome Robert! How do you like CMU? Do you plan to come back to Hawaii after school?

The FAQ is a good place to learn about the site. You may want to join some of the interest groups such as C/C++, Java and .NET Developers.

We hope you find TechHui useful and invite others. Happy holidays!
