I have to say, if I could do it over I would not use GXT. Their layouts are buggy and the documentation is poor. And now GWT has caught up in most areas where GXT was ahead.
I agree. Their APIs are a mess. To create a vertical stack of components you use a RowLayout and set the orientation to vertical? What!? Their layouts behave differently depending on what components you are using, which is totally unacceptable. They are miles behind Swing, Flex and WPF. Having worked on a number of key Java standards, including Java 6, we tried to offer them some advice and they completely blew us off.

Welcome Randy! Its been a long time. I hope 2009 is treating you well. I look forward to hearing about your adventures with GWT. We have been writing about our experience with GWT and GXT over the past six months.

The FAQ is a good place to learn about the site. You may want to join some of the interest groups such as Java Developers and User Experience Design.

We hope you find TechHui useful and invite others. Have a great weekend!
