It's looking a lot like "The Day After Tomorrow" in the South Pacific Ocean right now. Two full-fledged powerhouses of hurricanes are wreaking havoc on the open seas. Even more remarkable, they are almost right on top of each other. The image above was taken late on March 15th, and shows the twins storms, nicknamed Tomas and Ului, just after Tomas (on the right) whacked Fiji and knocked out communications to the islands. No one knows the extent of damage there yet.

At the time this image was taken, Tomas was sporting 131 mile per hour sustained winds, and Ului was clocking in at 150 miles per hour, making them twin category four cyclones, a rarity in such close proximity (they don't call them hurricanes in the southern hemisphere). As of earlier today, they'd both weakened to category three storms and were projected to dissipate further, sparing most populated areas from any more damage.
