Hawaiʻi's Technology Community

These are the magnificent baobabs of Madagascar. Their trunks can be up to 11 meters (36 ft) in diameter. Baobab fruit is rich in vitamin C and has more calcium than milk.

In Hawaii you can see baobab in Waimea Valley and in various parks. Many of the fan palms you see around Hawaii are also from Madagascar.

These are amazing.  They almost look like they belong on another planet.

We had a lot of fun photographing baobabs. The trunks are so large that in some parts of Africa people have taken up residence inside of them.
