About Me:
I've been programming since 1966, professionally since 1973. My longest jobs have been with Hewlett Packard (14 years), Network General (7 years) and now Venturi Wireless (8 years so far). For the past decade I have been doing Linux software on servers. I'm a co-author of Linux Appliance Design (No Starch Press, 1977) and one of the original developers of HP's Openview.
Hi John,
I was a prolific NeXTStep developer and used Objective-C for ten years. Probably my all-time favorite platform. Apple has added a lot, and I need to get back up to speed, but it remains very familiar to me.
Email me at ddgilmore@gmail.com if you want to discuss further.
Thanks!
I was there in '81 and worked at the Student Health Center as a Programmer about '88? I think or so they still had everything on cards in PL1and was paying for processing time so I moved everything over to the PC's and to COBOL and processed all the data there then just uploaded it to the database on the Mainframe. I still remember my first Card program which was to make a frog jump in decreasing amounts until a certain distance then stop in Fortran, I still have those cards somewhere haha..
Maui+ TOaks? small world. Main reason for maui move is new wife wants to return to island and I want to leave TO. Got a nice place in Haiku last summer and plan to bring tools & tech to start a hackerspace, do small manufacturing (fab lab), training, and maybe some sw dev to pay the bills.
