Thanks for the welcome, Mika. No, I have no idea who Chaoying is.. A co-worker told me about the Jelly (coworking) events, so I found TechHui through them.

I do pretty much everything web/tech related for HIFF. Did you know they're having a mini film festival at Doris Duke Aug 22-24? Check out hiff.org for details.

    Hi Mika,
Thanks for mentioning me. I haven't seen the one at the movies yet. I have seen the one on TV. It was pretty much fun to make the commercial. I doubt that I am famous, though quite a few people have told me about it.

    Hi Mika,
I went to UH with Henk and worked with him for many years. I am now independent and looking at doing my own thing. I am delighted to see so much high tech talent in the islands!
  • Robin E. Raqueno

Thanks for being my first commentee and heads up on those groups and other Guam members. I'll be sure to take a look at them.

Thanks for looking into my database problem last week. I haven't solved it but I have found a workaround; granting access to all databases works fine. Things only go wrong when I try to restrict a user to a single database. I'll let you know when (if?) I find the real solution.

Hey thanks for the tip! I just joined a few of the groups available. and yes, I am studying at UH. I've got about a year or so to go until I graduate. That's cool you lived in the UK, I just got back from a semester over in London. it was amazing!

Thank you for the welcome! I'm not a furry, just a fan of rats mainly. :)

Hi Mika! Thanks for the welcome! I work for a company that does military contracts. We may have met once a long time ago though, when I was still at UH working on Hackystat.

    Hi Mika!

I won't get the 'seed' cloves for a few weeks yet. Pretty excited about it though. This year I'm planning on planting them in amongst rose bushes -- supposed to be some good synergy there.

How about you? How's that herb garden coming along?
  • Eric Nakagawa

Why, yes. Yes, I do work with Kari.

Are you a bot? Or does ning provide a partially automated email system?
  • Jamie Dinkelacker

Mahalo! Yes, Google is an incredible place to be, and being part of Maps and Earth is an incredible experience.
  • Gail Shiraishi

Thank you so much :) I'm trying to get acquainted with the website ( ^ . ^ )
  • Ka Hung Phillip Lau

HI! thanks for the comment. I will be learning a lot from this tech community. Yeah!
  • Stephen McMahon

hanks! It was nice meeting you as well. TechHui has certainly been useful for getting access to so many tech people in Hawaii. I subscribe to the RSS feeds and it is not uncommon for me to bring up this web site a dozen times on any given day. If it were not for TechHui and Manoa Geeks, I probably wouldn't know anyone at all here in HI!
  • Gail Shiraishi

It was wonderful meeting you too :) I'm still trying to get acquainted with your website. Maybe next time we'll have more time to talk to each other :)
  • Viil

Hi Mika, how was the Manoa Geeks meeting yesterday? I wanted to join you guys, but unfortunately it wasn't possible this time.
I just read through your profile and saw that one your interests is snorkeling. I love snorkeling, scuba diving, and taking under water photos. We should get into the water together some time :)
  • Justin Goshi

Thanks for the tips! It's very helpful.
  • Ira

Hi Mika! Thanks for the info on the interest groups. Much appreciated. I'll sign-up. I didn't work for DoCoMo, but I did a lot of work with handset makers that supplied phones to DoCoMo. I worked for Texas Instruments. I was the Program Director for TI's 3G chipset development in Japan. I also did a lot of work on OMAP, which is widely used application processor for 2.5 and 3G phones. It was a great ride being in Japan during the early days of 3G. I see that you're a Japanese localization engineer. I'd like to learn more.
  • Germaine Carter

Sis, thanks for the reply. I am looking forward to meeting new people and you. Tell me what you like about being you. And no I am not from Hawaii but i have lived there for several years. I have my best friend there now. I am seeking to get my newspaper there . My friends distributes them for me every month. I am seeking more business's that would like to advertise in my paper. What could you suggest since you are a major power woman on this site and in the world of business. Your advice would be very helpful!
  • Joei

Thanks for welcoming me and giving me some tips.
  • Remo Balcells

    Thanks for your welcome.
Thrilled to have found this watering hole!
I will check the interest groups.

    Aloha,
    Remo.
  • Jack Molisani

Hi Mika! You asked if most of the attendees at The LavaCon Conference are from Hawaii,. About 75% of the attendees are from Hawaii and about 25% are from the mainland, but we also have people attending from as far away as Lima, Peru.

BTW, we are also organizing a community service "Splash for Trash" beach cleanup event on Sunday, November 9th in conjunction with the University of Hawaii’s Marine Biology Department and Marine Option program. 3pm - 5pm-ish. Grab some friends and join us!

    Aloha, Jack
  • Jimen Ching

Hi Mika, thanks for the welcome. I've joined the Game Developers group. As for C/C++ Developers, I'm switching careers, so I'm trying to avoid actual coding if possible. Although game development might pull me back in. I'd be very interested in doing some networking with other members who are in the film industry. I didn't see any group for that in the group list. I'd appreciate any pointers. Thanks.
