Using ʻokina and kahakō set in embellished script fonts is a PITA. The default characters for ʻokina (left single quote and U+02BB) never look right and they break the connectors in ugly ways. You always end up drawing them :-/ Adobe and Bitstream need to hire some Hawaiian type designers.

I'm surprised that even the fonts from the good foundaries that go to great lengths to create nice kerning pairs, hinting, ligatures, etc. don't handle this type of diacriticals well.
