SB2822 - Mandating electronics recycling

The original bill would have

• Mandated recycling (scrapping for raw materials) of every electronic device of 4 ounces or more.
• Implemented a consumer based recycling fee on all electronics sold of 4 ounces or more.
• Requred EVERY retailer selling electronics items (hair dryers, toaster, computers, refrigerators) to collect fees and impliment a tracking system.
• Imposed massive fines for non compliance.

No where does the original bill mention re-use of a product.  and DONATIONS of items are also subject to a fee.

It has been updated to instead create a task force to study the subject.
