FIRST LEGO League - Not as glitzy as FRC but still very cool

The NXT/Mindstorms LEGO scholastic robotics program, FIRST LEGO League (FLL), is underway. The feeder program to FRC, FLL is currently the largest robotics program for students (ages 9-14) in the State of Hawaii. 144 teams from Hawaii are already registered nationally with about 95% of them registered for statewide district qualifiers, starting in mid-November.

The Hawaii FLL State Championship Tournament (Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Blaisdell Arena) is looking for volunteer referees and judges. (It would be GREAT to have more women technical judges this year...hint, hint.) There will be a one-day training session sometime in December and the Tournament event lasts from about 10:00am to 4-5:00pm.

Great fun...cool to see the kids so excited about technology! If interested, please contact me at lfujioka@isishawaii.org. Mahalo for making a difference!!!
