iPhone in China
Pat just sent me a link to an interesting article on the negotiations between Apple and China Mobile. If they can't come to an agreement soon I bet China Mobile will simply find a local handset manufacturer to clone the iPhone.

My guess is that China Mobile is tanking the negotiations on purpose to give them time to create a competitor to the iPhone and the App Store. It makes sense from a China Mobile and china.gov perspective. Block out a foreign company and let a local company fill that gap. That way all the money stays within China.
I think the only way you'd see an iPhone in China at this point, is if their iPhone replacement fails to gain traction, then China Mobile would be under pressure to cut a deal with Apple. -

That is exactly what I was thinking. They are just stalling so they can copy it.
