The announcement of an AS3 to iPhone (Obj C) cross compiler is interesting, but will it support access to the native iPhone APIs (GPS, accelerometer, etc.)? Without access to Cocoa Touch APIs, I'm not sure how useful it will be. Thoughts?

I assume they will provide at least limited access to Cocoa Touch, but the press release, Adobe info page and TechCrunch article don't provide any indication of this.

I believe I have heard that they (Adobe) are using LLVM to compile native to the iPhone. If that's the case, I don't know how they'd link in any of the Cocoa Touch stuff. That said, using LLVM is one giant step toward compiling *within* Xcode (under Snow Leopard), and so that may be the route Adobe Labs is pursuing.
