I thought I'd list out some learnings from The Eye Tracking Seminar (SF) that can be applied towards lead generation design.

If you have any other related tips to list, feel free to add on!

1) Users read following the "F-model".
Users don't read all your text. They usually just scan what you wrote following the "F Model."
- Bold or use bullets for Call to actions or value statements.
- Put important content in the first 2 sentences of a paragraph if you have a block of text on your page.

2) Average/good looking faces draw more attention than "Beautiful" models
Research results show that photos of average looking (but not ugly) models draw more attention. This is good to know if you want to create a banner, email creative, or have a photo of a person accompany a call to action.

3) Private Human Anatomy attracts attention in general
Study results also showed that most users' (most males, actually) eyes are drawn to private human anatomy.

4) Plain looking text draws more attention than stylized "fancy" text in general.
Call to action text, button text, main message text may be more effective in gathering attention from the user if it's not stylized and more plain looking.

Do you know anyone using: http://silverbackapp.com (Guerrilla Usability Testing)?
I've never used it but I'm a big fan of the clearleft guys, they are a great agency.

If you decide to try it, out let me know what you think of it. I'm also wondering if there is a windows equivalent?

Windows equiv? You're not a Mac guy? just kidding. I've gone from the Apple IIe days to Windows then back to Apple Macbook Pro just a few months ago. Will let you know if I find any good usability tools.

Yes, people in the office throw rocks at me because I'm on windows :)

It comes in handy when testing browsers though!
