A sneak peek into Groovy++ - What is it? Why is it there?

This sounds quite interesting.. So far I am a growing Groovy fan, as the language offers some natural ways of expression. Now Groovy++ adds the speed gain. Given its seamless operability with Java, could this be the missing link for Groovy to enter the new frontier?
