Web Developer ($80-90k; Contract to Hire)

TEKsystems is seeking a Web Developer for a DoD client in Honolulu, Hawaii. We are looking for an experienced web developer who has experience with data-driven complex web sites and who is interested in learning and developing in Ruby on Rails and Ruby.

We are looking for a candidate with:
-5-7 years of experience with Javascript and HTML.
-Experience with HTTP, MVC, object oriented programming, unit testing, software patterns, relational databases and SQL, XML, XHTML, CSS, Ruby, Ruby on Rails.
-Will consider senior Microsoft web developer looking to switch to Ruby on Rails.
-A Degree in Computer Science. Exception could be made for a candidate with clear expertise and demonstrable experience with server side development on high profile projects.
-Candidate must have developed and delivered large web internal or public facing web applications.
-Experience with Linux, Java, and Apache is a plus.
-Experience with data warehouses, OLAP cubes, or large data sets is a plus.
-Must be able to clearly explain AJAX and have a clear understanding of MVC architectural practices.
-A background in Flex or Flash.

Primary Job Duties:
This person will join a fast moving and energetic team responsible for designing, developing, delivering and enhancing a real-time healthcare web application. The ideal candidate must be energetic, a creative problem solver, able to contribute to team discussions and dynamics, and most importantly love what they do. Some travel to the mainland may be required.

Clearance: Must be “clearable” to a Secret Clearance. Any criminal record or serious credit issues will likely disqualify a candidate from getting a clearance.
