The following article sheds a little more light on the Chrome OS offering from Google and provides a notebook on a subscription basis ($15-$20/mo) with updates and repair included.  ISO also looks to be available for those wanting to throw it on their own rig.

It is interesting to note the efforts being taken to get Chrome going at the same time as the big push for Android OS on phones (Gingerbread) and tablets (Honeycomb).
