Kamehameha Schools has a Systems Administrator (IT Division) position available Kawaiaha'o Plaza, O'ahu.

Familiarity with servers in a PeopleSoft environment preferred. Position is for a 2-year limited term until 6/30/14.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or closely related field or Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field, High School Diploma or GED equivalent and at least 5 years of experience managing a Server environment/MS Windows.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Over 3 - less than 5 years of related work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of computing systems concepts and terminology in an enterprise environment using industry frameworks, such as COBIT, ISO, and ITIL.
  • Thorough knowledge and good monitoring skills in network, interactive and host-to-host console operations to ensure resource availability to the users.
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving and planning.
  • Extensive knowledge utilizing Microsoft Windows Server on a distributed server network.
  • Demonstrate superior knowledge of network operating systems through certifications or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to give clear instructions to staff and to prepare clearly written reports to management.
  • Develop working relationships internally with superiors, peers and subordinates and externally with peers to accomplish department and organization goals.
  • In-depth analytical, organizational, and conceptual skills to handle various projects and programs.



Duties:

  • Provides computing systems technical knowledge and assistance by providing instruction and guidance on day-to-day technical issues regarding the systems and peripheral devices. Reviews and performs research on proposed application and network changes that affects connectivity or access to the systems. Reviews activity logs and device statuses and when problem areas are detected, make recommendations to Supervisor. Ensures changes are done in alignment with the security and disaster recovery plans and for updating both plans where appropriate.
  • Resolves hardware and operating system software errors and problems in a timely manner. Provides assistance to the application support staff when called upon.
  • Investigates system performance (running slow) when calls from users are received. Works with the vendor for more technical solutions. They also monitor the disk space available. When it nears the thresholds, they will ask the users to delete unwanted files. In both cases if they are unsuccessful at their attempts, they will make recommendations on upgrading the hardware.
  • Responsible for the coordination and execution of all activities related to installing and updating the hardware and software of the computing systems. Responsible for following established change management procedures.
  • In the area of projects that affects the computing systems, assesses the requirements and provides necessary feedback. Serves as the lead to study, recommend, install, and make operational a solution.
  • Keeps aware of emerging technology and trends. Studies and investigates their suitability to meet the present and future requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
