Join a small development team working on cutting edge advanced 4D visualization software. We are developing a fully georeferenced, 3D environment which is capable of displaying not only images and elevation data at different Levels of detail (LOD), but also volumetric data sets that change in time. We have received interest and support from the commercial and military sectors and are looking to hire two more developers to complete the push to a final product.

Makai is looking for energetic, hard-working programmers who are willing to do what it takes to bring a product to the shelf. Candidates should work well under deadline pressure and must have an aptitude for learning new tools and technologies quickly. Ideal candidates will have programming experience in 3D graphics and GIS, academic qualifications in scientific visualization is a big plus (i.e., knowledge of computer graphic algorithms). Candidates should be proficient in the C++ language and experience with OpenGL/OpenSceneGraph (OSG) and Qt interfaces is important.

Required skills & experience:
• Programming experience in 3D graphics, OpenGL/OpenSceneGraph (OSG) and/or
• Programming experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Strong knowledge of C++
• Academic background with computer graphic algorithms
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desired skills & experience:
• Experience in scientific visualization
• Cross-platform & Qt GUI toolkit development (Windows, Linux, OS X)
• CMake, make, and/or Visual Studio
• Familiarity with NetCDF & HDF5 file formats
• Python Scripting language
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently

The positions are with Makai Ocean Engineering – a company founded in 1973 and located on Makai Research Pier at Makapuu Point, Waimanalo. Makai has three divisions: pipeline engineering, submarine cable planning and installation software, and advanced 4D visualization software.
