Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails

Requirements:

 Defense contractor is seeking a seasoned software engineer for a vital data warehouse / business intelligence project. Must have at least 8 years work experience in developing and maintaining enterprise-level Web-based applications using object oriented programming languages and relational databases. Work experience programming in Ruby (on Rails), Javascript, Flex, and PERL are ideal, but experience with C++, C#, Java are also desirable. Building and interfacing with Web Services and work with data structures such as XML and JSON are desired. Work experience in writing complex SQL statements and  procedures using built-in database packages is a must. Work experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), Analysis Services (SSAS), PerformancePoint Services, and SharePoint is a huge plus, but not required.   

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as is formal documentation. A bachelors degree is required, with preference to a bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science. Must be able to work in the downtown Honolulu office. Must be a US citizen and be able to receive a DoD Secret security clearance. Must be willing to take a competency test as part of the job application process.

Job Duties: The Software Engineer: analyzes, designs, builds, and tests assigned system components; works with business analysts and customers to determine requirements and business rules, and documents such when needed; applies engineering practices to software development including feasibility analysis and proof-of-concept; leads small groups where assigned; proposes and implements software development process improvements.
