Kamehameha Schools has a Senior Instructional Designer position available at Kapālama Campus, O'ahu.

 

Education:

Master's Degree in Distance Learning, Educational technology, Curriculum & Instruction, Communications/Multi-Media, telecommunications or closely related field.

In lieu of a Master's, Bachelor's with five or more years of directly related experience.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • More than 5 years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in Windows and Mac operating systems and core MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in distance learning theories, instructional design models, instructional strategies, educational technology and curriculum development using online and Web-based applications.
  • Experience with administration of learning management system.
  • Background in educational instruction, including curriculum development and facilitation of distance learning courses.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching and training in distance learning and/or instructional technology.
  • Knowledge of current research, best practices and resources in distance learning, instructional design and educational technology.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced, technology environment and adapt quickly and efficiently to change, as well as to implement change.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Demonstrated graphic design skills and ability to develop and produce online resources in support of education.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills to communicate and work effectively with various levels within and outside of KS with a high degree of cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated and/or skill in organizational competencies of accountability, change effectiveness, collaboration and teamwork, communication, Hawaiian cultural commitment and innovation.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to take appropriate initiative, manage multiple tasks, establish work priorities, and balance competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and results oriented to identify and resolve existing or potential problems.
  • Experience designing culturally appropriate materials for a variety of age groups with diverse learning and teaching styles.
  • Familiarity with social media.
  • Work flexible hours as necessary.
  • Valid driver's license.

 

Summary of Duties:

  • Supports the Instructional Services Center (ISC) by leading and providing KS-wide support and consultation in instructional design.
  • Analyzes, designs, develops, implements and evaluates (ADDIE) ISC culture-based projects with a focus on distance learning.
  • Leads cross-functional teams in planning, execution, control and reporting of moderate to high risk projects, or multiple moderate risk projects, within the constraints of scope, cost, quality, time and stakeholder expectations.
  • Designs, develops and delivers multimedia technology training to KS clients face-to-face or online in one-to-one, small and large group settings.
  • Conducts evaluations to assess effectiveness of ISC culture-based projects, provide project reports and recommend strategies for improvement in future projects.
  • Directs project initiatives, facilitates and leads meetings, documents results, tracks issues and ensures resolution.
  • Train, mentor and supervise interns as needed.
