Kamehameha Schools has a Senior Database Administrator position available at Kawaiaha‘o Plaza, O‘ahu. Deadline to apply: 01/15/2013.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or closely related field.

OR

Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field, High School Diploma or GED equivalent and over 10 years of related work experience with a minimum of 3 years of database design and administration experience in implementing and managing databases and 4 years of systems analysis or programming experience.

Summary of Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 7 years in IT field, to include 3 years of database design and administration experience in implementing and managing databases and 4 years of systems analysis or programming experience.
  • 3-5 years of general supervisory experience to include planning, directing, staffing, leading, project management and budget administration
  • Detailed knowledge of database design concepts, pertinent programming language and operating systems knowledge, systems programming, and networking.
  • Working experience in the development and maintenance of databases and database management systems.
  • Thorough knowledge and good monitoring skills in database, network, interactive and host-to-host console operations to ensure resource availability to the users.
  • Experience in utilizing database software, client server and web development methodologies.
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations to both internal and external audiences.


Summary of Duties:

  • Plans, analyzes and provides periodic reports on the capacity, health and performance of all "productionalized" Database system environments.
  • Provide central control of all matters affecting the production databases.
  • Ensure common standards are established.
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring database systems to ensure systems and daily activities are satisfied.
  • Serve as a lead for the Database Support team and IT Operations.
  • Works with Service Desk or other support personnel to resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 issues.
  • Responsible for providing superior knowledge and primary technical support and administration of production database systems.
  • Schedules, plans, and implements all changes to the database environment and the Database Management System, following change control and security procedures.
  • Develops, implements and maintains backup and recovery for databases.
  • Acts as the lead on projects in areas pertaining to the database environments.
