Kamehameha Schools is a private, educational, charitable trust founded and endowed by the legacy of a Hawaiian Princess, Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Kamehameha Schools operates a statewide educational system enrolling more than 6,500 students of Hawaiian ancestry at K-12 campuses on O'ahu, Maui and Hawai'i and over 30 preschool sites statewide. To support our operation, Kamehameha Schools is hiring for a Senior Applications Engineer in the Information Technology Division. Below are summaries of the minimum qualifications for the Senior Applications Engineer position and of the Information Technology Division:

Summary of Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering or related field and at least five years in the IT field, to include four years of applications design, development, implementation, and integration. In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 10 years of experience in applications development.
  • At least 5 years of experience with the ability to analyze and code efficient applications using a variety of programming languages including C#, .Java, Net, SQL, HTML, XML, PHP, etc.
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex business and programming requirements and to come up with application designs that fulfill those needs while preserving enterprise architecture, protecting KS data and information, and facilitating IT strategies and goals.
  • Knowledge and management skills employing AGILE/RAD/Waterfall Systems Development Life Cycle.
  • Occasional off hour and weekend operational and project support.


Division Summary: The Information Technology Division (ITD) at Kamehameha Schools, provides support to the organization and operating departments in all activities related to information technology management including: technical support applications development, systems maintenance, hardware/software solutions, security provisions, networking, planning and architecture, and instructional technologies. ITD strives to be a collaborative partner with education and business units to provide relevant and appropriate technology solutions to help the organization achieve its strategic goals and objectives.
