Position Title:   HTDC Economic Development Specialist 

The High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC), an agency of the State of Hawaii, is responsible for promoting and advancing technology-based economic development in Hawaii.  It develops and manages incubation facilities and programs for all islands, oversees a variety of federally funded programs in outreach and innovation, and supports the internationalization of Hawaii’s technology community.

This position is located in the executive offices of HTDC. Through Best Practices Technology-Based Economic Development projects and programs, HTDC assists startups and existing science and tech companies.   The HTDC Economic Development Specialist works closely with the HTDC executive team to plan, organize, staff, implement, and track projects as well as provide support for programs and innovation centers across the State.  The successful candidate will be a person with initiative and passion for HTDC’s mission and who feels comfortable interacting with diverse people, programs and projects; has the organizational ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; have the willingness and ability to tend to detail; and has a flexible attitude.

Requirements include:  Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:  business administration, economics, marketing, science, engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; strong project management skills and experiences; good verbal and written communication skills; computer programs literacy, and ability and enthusiasm to learn and work as a team.

This full-time position is exempt from State Civil Service requirements, but features State benefits that include vacation and sick leave, health coverage, life insurance and retirement.  Applicants must be citizens, permanent resident aliens, or nationals of the United States.  Non-citizens with unrestricted employment authorization from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service may also apply.  HTDC is an equal opportunity employer.
