Overview


Location: Honolulu, HI


People within the Infrastructure team are responsible for the day-to-day provision of long-term outsourcing services to one or several clients. Infrastructure Outsourcing (IO) is the ongoing management and/or improvement of activities related to a part or to the whole of a technical infrastructure (e.g. information systems, security systems, telecommunications networks), allowing companies to focus on their core business and competencies.

Job Description:


The full time Database Architect/Administrator (DBA) position handles multifunctional database projects. The DBA administers development/test databases. The DBA is primarily responsible for performing many related database functions across one or more teams. This may include: designing, implementing and maintaining new databases, backup/ recovery and configuration management.  DBA must operate independently with minimal guidance supporting development teams and client facing support. DBA will be responsible for administering multiple database types (Oracle, SQL Server, Informix, etc) across multiple platforms (AIX, Solaris, Windows, Linux, etc).  DBA must have experience in problem diagnosis and resolution, database automation and a working knowledge of operating systems.


Responsibilities May Include:

  • Advance skills and expertise in oracle RAC.
  • Provide leadership in database technologies for internal application development as well as client facing support.
  • Provide collaborative problem solving of issues with development teams.
  • Enforce database change control standards with assigned teams.
  • Enhance and Support existing automation processes for change control of databases
  • Hands on day to day maintenance of development databases across multiple database technologies for multiple development teams.
  • Monitor software database license process.
  • Manage technical action reports to resolve bugs/issues with DBMS software.
  • Participate in implementing database strategies and solutions.
  • Provide database maintenance activities (software upgrades, log file maintenance, etc)
  • Resolve alerts initiated by automated monitoring processes (backups, log files, etc)
  • Provide outage resolution support and perform analysis to resolve recurring database issues.
  • Install and configure DBMS.



Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:


>  Minimum of 5+ years of Oracle Database administration (7.3 to 11g R2) 

>  Minimum of 5+ years of experience with the following: 

>  SQL, PL/SQL, shell scripting 

>  Database features such as RMAN BACKUP/RECOVERY, SQL*Loader, Data Pump, CDC, AWR

>  RAC architecture, implementation, support 

>  Team Management 

>  Performance tuning 

>  Bachelor's Degree

>  Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
